Self-Care Overview

Self Care

Self-care During the Pandemic

In our first zoom meeting with the SEL COP in March after COVID-19 hit, the main topic of conversation was how to address the trauma that was bound to come.  We talked about students first, but that led to a conversation about their adult caregivers and of course, teachers.  As we researched how to support everyone, we found out that starting with the self-care of teachers/adults was the most important place to begin.  Self-care does not mean fancy things like a massage and manicure, it means deciding what the small do-able things are to fill your bucket and settle your mind.  Give up guilt.  Grant yourself and others grace.  If you take care of yourself, you can be there for the children and model a positive outlook in an uncertain time.
